Do you know the ingredients in your dog's prescription food?

The idea of prescription foods started out as a wholesome thought. However, as food sales reps and large companies saw the rise in prescription diet sale increase, the idea of having multiple "prescription diets" became appealing (and lucrative). 

Over the years we have cared for thousands of pets at our boarding and daycare location, Sit Stay Dog Watching. We have seen so many dogs eating the same food brands as well as suffer from the same chronic ailments. The one thing they have in common is their food. We have had the opportunity to compare over the counter dog foods and prescription dog foods and we concluded that - the ingredients are the same and typically only contain a small number of vitamins or ingredients that actually could help that pet's diagnosis. Unfortunately, most of these diets do more harm than good in terms of cheap ingredients and not enough nutrients for the problem at hand. We know that some owners swear by these diets, but the truth is - they have only seen this diet maintain their dog or cat and not help them in healing. These diets do not claim to heal or cure their pet's problem, but rather suppress or in other words deplete the immune system. We encourage owners to research what a wholesome and fresh diet can do for your pet!
